What is humanism?

A personal world view and belief system, which is part of a non-religious global movement, that values democracy, science and evidence-based reasoning, human morality and empathy, critical thinking, secularism, freedom, and concern for sentient organisms generally.

What is Central London Humanists (CLH)?

A volunteer-run community association organising educational, social, and cultural events (online and offline) for humanists, sceptics, and other open-minded people in London, UK. The link to our online constitution document is here.

Do I have to be a humanist to attend a CLH event or take part in a CLH programme?

We welcome people of all world views, lifestyles, and backgrounds to attend all our events and to join our programme of activities (e.g. charity volunteering, campaigning).

We request everyone to participate in a polite, empathetic, and open-minded manner towards fellow attendees and their views, while also encouraging rigorous intellectual exchanges, discussions, and debates in the spirit of mutual enlightenment.

What types of events and programmes does CLH organise?

We organise many types of meetings, and programmes, both online and offline, both social and educational.

For example, we host talks, meet up for meals, debates, drinks socials,  discussion groups, walks, museum trips, theatre trips, movie trips, games nights, picnics, sports, and more!
