Central London Humanists (CLH) respectfully requests all members, supporters, and anyone who joins our activities, programmes, and fora online and offline, to please follow this code of conduct.
-
Use English when communicating with others in CLH.
-
Treat others with empathy, politeness, and respect, in line with humanist values.
-
Do not engage in:
- personally-directed insults or derogatory remarks;
- aggressive, prejudiced, bigoted, racist, discriminatory, disruptive, belittling, or otherwise abusive behaviour;
- the use of sexualised language or sharing of sexualised imagery, and unwanted sexual attention or advances;
- public or private harassment;
- trolling — including repetitive behaviour intended to provoke a reaction;
- (self) promotion, or sales marketing for events, books, and other products that are not directly related to humanism, or to CLH and its partners;
- any behaviour that could reasonably be seen as bringing CLH into disrepute.
-
Do, in the humanist spirit of freedom of thought and enquiry:
- come prepared to hear other people’s views
- engage with divergent views
- offer scrutiny and criticism of ideas
- accept constructive feedback gracefully
-
Anyone under the age of 18 may not attend CLH events without an accompanying adult who will take responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of the younger individual.
